Auditions are 10 minutes long, and are comprised of the following pieces:
- Sing a series of simple vocal exercises to display your vocal range, colour and timbre
- Presentation of the Audition piece, as provided above, in your chosen voice part on a neutral syllable (eg: lah, nah, loo, noo). German text is not necessary. You will be accompanied by our pianist. We do not accept an outside pianist or an audio tape
- Sing-back intervals, short melodies and chords played for you by our pianist
- Tap, clap or verbalize with “tah” a brief rhythm
- Sight-read a brief melody
In the audition, we will evaluate the following:
- vocal timbre, colour and range
- intonation
- rhythm
- ability to follow musical instructions
- flexibility and ability to learn
We are well aware that sometimes nervousness may prevent you from performing at your best in an audition. Please be assured that we take these factors into account, but at the same time, the more prepared you are, the better you will perform under the inherent stress of an audition.
Please come prepared to exhibit your musical skills.
If you are not currently a member of the choir, a completed Application Form is required prior to your audition.

Songsters
The Songsters are a small group of choristers who perform concerts (often free) for senior’s homes and the like at Christmas and all year round. Contact us to make a booking, we will work with your budget.
Up Close & Personal
The Educational Outreach program, Up Close & Personal, offers free events to students and educators to meet with the musical leadership of the choir along with the soloists for a specific performance, eat pizza, drink juice and coffee, and watch the dress rehearsal. This behind-the-scenes experience enhances understanding and enjoyment of the music for young singers and musicians.
